Local Voices Network co-founder Kathy Cramer recently graced the stage of the [Chautauqua Institution](https://chq.org/) to deliver a talk titled “Listening to Disrupt,” delving into insights that are at the heart of Cortico’s Local Voices Network.

As described in her book, _The Politics of Resentment: Rural Consciousness in Wisconsin and the Rise of Scott Walker_, Cramer’s research illuminates the deep mistrust and anger voiced among rural Americans, rooted in experiences and perceptions of being left out of government decisions and policy-making.

Dr. Cramer, who serves as professor of political science and the Natalie C. Holton Chair of Letters & Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, continues to be a top advisor and collaborator as Cortico continues to expand our Local Voices Network. Two feature stories in The Chautauquan Daily offer a helpful introduction to Cramer’s work and the ideas that underpin our efforts to bridge divides through deep listening.
